Not Your Dad’s Burger: 10 New Restaurants to Try in NYC

Are you feeling hungry today? (OK, fine, you’re just going to feel like eating dinner.) Luckily, there are several great New York City openings to choose from, including this trio of Japanese dishes, this classic Italian gem and this gourmet burger stand.

Best New Restaurant: Bon Appetit Restaurant Co. at Studio Restaurant

This throwback to French restaurant kitchens in Paris re-imagines the menu at Studio Restaurant as a restaurant kitchen with soups, salads, pasta and fish, plus meats, poultry and vegetables prepared in the back. While the pricetag ($39 per person, plus $48 with wine pairings) might keep some people out, we find it worth the investment.

Tobario, El Chapultepec

Pizza wouldn’t be pizza without someone or something to put their own twist on it, and this line makes pizza both traditional and approachable without missing out on the best. Also new is bossa nova on the menu.

Beija-Flor at Rosa Mexicano

As the name suggests, beija means sugar and Flor means, well, Florida. The addition of this Miami-born restaurant (and wine bar) to the Rosa Mexicano portfolio is a breath of fresh air.

Busted, Pearl

Summer means some of the best barbecue in the city, and if you can fit a visit to this casual neighborhood joint among the four other meals you have planned, we suggest you don’t let this open yet.

Golden Girl Drive-Thru Burgers

Off the heels of its fall brick-and-mortar opening on Washington Place, these are one of the best burgers around. This growing chain might have just opened its last spot, but you can still get the ever-popular Golden Girls, which includes a double chicken burger, an American, cheddar, bacon and a choice of sauces.
