Second Navy SEAL dies after training accident, report says

A Navy SEAL has died after suffering injuries during a training exercise on April 15 at a base in Virginia Beach, Virginia, local media reported.

Ricky D. Tedy IV, 28, of Jacksonville, Florida, is believed to have drowned, according to WAVY-TV, which obtained an autopsy report.

A statement from the US Navy Special Warfare Command in Coronado, California, said the operation to rescue Tedy was completed and the incident investigated.

CNN could not immediately reach the Navy for comment.

Tedy died when two members of the SEAL team suffered injuries during a failed rescue mission near Dahlgren, Virginia, and the trainees drowned, WAVY-TV reported.

The station reported that a special agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service has been tasked with leading an investigation into the investigation into the accident.

CNN affiliate WTKR-TV reported that according to a source close to the investigation, the training was simulation based, and that the training was not physically demanding.
